Banning ethnic studies

American. It's supposed to be the land of the free right? Then why is Arizona continuously seeking to change things. I am a little disturbed that public schools in Tucson, AZ have decided to get rid of "ethnic studies", specifically Mexican-American. A NY times article stated, "It was Mr. Horne, as the states's superintendent of public instruction, who wrote a law aimed at...amid the fierce protests raging over the state's immigration crackdown."

I find it hard to believe this is happening. You do know Arizona and the REST of the western world was once part of Mexico right? Something else that was interesting was that the whole class was Latino; usually in Philadelphia, it's caucasian people taking the Latino classes. Just a thought. And if you want to dig deeper into the article, it goes on to talk about how no other ethnic studies class are being targeted. Weird.

I leave you with this quote: “Who are the true Americans here — those embracing our inalienable rights or those trying to diminish them?”
