You ever meet one of those people whom are the true definition of a powerful Latino(a) in the U.S.? Well if you're in Philly, Mexico, Puerto Rico or even Colombia, I'm sure you've heard of Michelle Angela Ortiz. I've had the pleasure of knowing Michelle for a few years now but for the past year I've worked with her in helping put a face to the successful PHILADELPHIA Latino(a).
Muralist, art educator, Latina: As a highly skilled muralist, Ortiz has designed and created over 30 large scale public works nationally and internationally (Fiji, Mexico, Ecuador & Costa Rica) and is a recipient of the Leeway Foundation Art & Change Grant (2006) and Transformation Award (2008.) In July 2010 I brought in a writer from Latina Magazine to Philadelphia and she was able to connect with Michelle. Fast forward to today, you get the full page spread on Michelle in Latina Magazine (February 2010 - above). Congrats!
