The Phanatico Latino

Noticed something different about the Phanatic? Well yesterday at the Please Touch Museum, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia tourism office (my job) announced the "Phanatic Around Town" public art program during the kickoff event to the team's Paint the Town Red Week. According to an article on MLB.com, "Each of the six-foot, 100-pound statues were painted by local artists who were selected by the Phillies for their vision of the team's mascot. From 'Phrankenstein' to 'Ben Phranklin' to even the 'Mad Hatter' and an astronaut, the artists covered the gamut of possibilities."

There's even a Phanatic celebrating our cultura called the "Phanatico Latino". The statue was painted by Marta Sanchez and will be on display at the Independence Seaport Museum at Penn's Landing. As you can see from the image above, it looks like the Phanatico Latino is holding up some of the Latino Phillies' players. To check out all the Phanatic statues, click here.
