Star Trek: The Next "Diverse" Generation

What can I say about Star Trek...wow! Somewhat different from the other Star Trek flicks, this movie I say was geared towards the young, tech-savy bunch of people. And despite what Trekkies are saying, Star Trek was great. It had a new cast and that usually makes a film great.

According to a San Antonio Express News article, "Multiethnic characters, portrayed by an equally diverse cast, have been Starfleet officers and the villains they faced. Latinos have had their share of “Star Trek” screen time." Although the new Star Trek really only had one Latina, over the coarse of each movie, representation was good. Zoe Yadira Zaldaña Nazario, born to a Dominican father and Puerto Rican mother, plays the lovely Nyota Uhura. Yeah you can't really tell throughout the movie because she is playing the woman who knows a zillion languages, but you know now :).

The craziest part? My brother went on to explain to me the paradox...you figure it out. *shakes fist*
