So it's been a few days since Paulina Vega (Miss Colombia) was crowned Miss Universe in Doral-Miami, Florida. Well deserved you think? Like many pageants and competitions, the crowning moment usually leads to "so and so was robbed" across all social media.
This year, when 22-year-old model Kaci Fennell, Miss Jamaica, was announced as the fourth runner-up, viewers immediately weighed in and booed from the crowd. The usual race card was thrown out but now it seems as though a short-hair rule may have been a part of the decision.
However, being a proud Colombiano born in New Jersey, I am very happy to have heard the news that Vega won. The last time a Miss Colombia took the title was in 1958 to Luz Marina Zuluaga.
"Vega, a 22-year-old student of business administration from Barranquilla, Colombia, said she would wear the crown with 'pride and excitement' as she heard the news that fans in Colombia had taken to the streets to celebrate, Vega said in an Associated Press article.
Let's check out the anti-climactic crowning moment below.
