Because the United States is blind to Colombian news, I just found out about Antanus Mockus. Mockus is a Colombian presidential candidate and has won 38 percent of intended votes while former defense minister Santos took 34 percent, according to the poll by Centro Nacional de Consultoria released late Thursday night. If Mockus wins, he will follow up one of the most well respected presidents of Colombia's history...Alvaro Uribe.
Uribe will leave behind major improvements in security, continuous social programs and sustained economic growth. His popularity levels among Colombians have been affected by ongoing events, such as the para-politics scandal and the government's various military operations. Will Mockus bring the same? Well if people in Paris believe in him, then I think he's the way to go.
